Althena
Have you ladies been using the new digital security guide specificaly made for the LGBTI community in sub-Saharan Africa? If you haven't, don't forget to take a look at it today and be safer online! https://securityinabox.org/communities/02 Tactical Technology Collective which created a similar guide for LGBTI persons in Arab region in 2013 collaborated with local activists around the continent (some of them are on NL!) to create a digital security guide which addresses our pecliar issues and offeres solutions. The guide focuses on digital threats that affect our legal, social, economic lives which can lead to harassment of our community and other times blackmail, arrest, or worse. The idea behind the guide is to give every person the ability to gain visibility, communicate, network, and express what they want as safely as is posible using the internet via our phones, laptops or shared computers. The guide shows you what social networks track you or share information about you with the government, it'll teach you how to be anonymous online, introduce you cool apps like surespot, give you tips on how to reduce common threats such as entrapment, extortion, harassment, and unauthorised access to your devices. Simply put, these are tools and tactics which can help everyone (but especially LGBTI persons) to stay safe on the internet. You can check out the chapters that interest you or you can also be download the whole thing as a PDF. As interesting as it is, my advice is you should not try and read it all in one sitting. Choose the topic that interests you first and take it from there. Happy reading and stay safe!
