Iris
Today's PUNCH- my news.com Title- DILEMMA BEFORE NIGERIANS Between President Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, as contenders for next month's presidential election, there is no material difference in their competence and vision. They have in common very poor oral communication skills which a Nigerian president should not have for international acceptability. In the 1960's during the Cold War, the USSR had to force its Premier Nikita Khrushchev to step down from office. Reason: The Russians considered him not eloquent enough to face the United States of America President John Kennedy at any international discourse relating to the war. To them, they could not contemplate their president not matching words for words with a US president, or sipping water or stammering in the course of debates. Jonathan and Buhari are therefore unfit for the presidency, viewed from international perspective. This is the dilemma facing Nigerians. But a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. Iris
Risks are worth taking. It’s a prelude to success. But some risks are abysmal, like voting Jonathan again.
