Chrmd Posted July 22, 2017 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Actor John Heard, best known for his role as Peter McAllister – dad of Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin – in the Home Alone movies, has died aged 72. The website TMZ reports that the actor was found dead in a hotel room in Palo Alto, California, reportedly being discovered by the maid service. According to the site police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but the actor was pronounced dead at the scene. No cause of death was immediately given, although Heard’s rep told TMZ he had been recovering in the hotel after undergoing ‘minor back surgery’ earlier this week. Heard, who made his movie debut in 1977, was a familiar face on the big screen in the decades that followed, although he won himself a whole new generation of fans as Home Alone’s Peter McAllister. The 1990 film – about a family who accidentally leave their eight-year-old son Kevin (Culkin) at home when they jet off for a Christmas break – became one of the biggest box office hits of the decade, with Heard returning to reprise the role in 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.
