I'm an ardent follower of the Oprah book club and I read a comment that got to me and evoked deeper thought. It was a statement by KingJames - "The" Lebron James.

Initially, I wondered why he would make such a statement which reveals serious insecurities and the need to be accepted when he can own his own heritage and story.
Then on further thought, I started to have an issue with the term African-American. Africa isn't a country I thought to myself. Why would a group of people even want to identify with a term that seeks to muddle them up into a single category when they have come from various places...
These issues are very deep and as I try to understand the different layers of it, I realise that I cannot get beyond the surface.
It is heartbreaking that a Lebron -whose voice represents that of several millions will feel this way.
True freedom is always found within. No one holds you captive but you.
