Some time ago I was discussing with a friend who had just returned from the U.K and we were talking about cost and effectiveness of the internet over there. And he was like he spends about 12k for his subscription for a year over there and l was like menh! That's like what l spend sometimes for my subscription in a month in Nigeria. In time past, l have taken time to take a closer look on my running cost on the internet. Sometimes we say there is no money but have you really taken time to look at what you actually spend monthly directly or indirectly on the internet? or you just say oh! am out of data and you just buy? l personally, my hangout most times is on Youtube because there's where you can sometimes feel at home while watching those lgbtq movies, tv, and all that. That's just the closest save gay community you could excess at any point being a Nigeria. Like l personally, am a fan of good gay movies because that's how l feel the love within my heart. So some times before you know it, you have spent more there three or more hours on Youtube or sometimes your network would come knocking on your door that you are out of data and that may just be the best part of the movie. And you are like menh!! Now am going to give my tips and trick on how to watch movie online effectively. 1. Never browse the internet without an activated data plan. Have you ever wondered while after purchasing a plan the network offers a further option of 1. extra 160MB & pay as you go 2. No bundle no browsing Don't let the 160MB fool you, is a trick to make you spend more because the network will never notify you when your plan is runnig out. Pay as you go is never a good option to pick the data rate on that is very high. what happens is that the network will charge that high data rate from your call credit and if you are not observant you will keep on buying credit thinking you are making too much calls unknowingly to you, your data charges is running on your call credit intend of your data plan. Sometimes the network will come up with promo like buy so and so for data and voice. Never go for such options always learn to separate your data from your calls by buying a data plan with no bundle no browsing which is more cost effective. 2. Never watch a Youtube video online when you know you may want to re-watch it again. like someone like me, when am seeing a movie l watch it like l want to write exam on it.That moment l disconnect from the world and pay attention to every bit. so sometimes l go over it again and again. Now this is what happens when you click on a movie online, assuming the size of that movie is 250mb which is the average size of a good HD movie or maybe just even a music video of maybe 50mb for instance. Every time you click to watch that music videos the network charges you the same 50mb. So if you love it so much, and lets say you watched it 4 times, the network will charge you 200mb for just that video. So the best option is to download the video to your phone and watch it as many times as you want and it will just cost you a one time 50mb. There's this app l have been using for years now that enables me to download any video from youtube even the restricted ones. It s called tubemate, You can't get it from the app store but you can get it for free from tubemate.net. Its very nice you can even download videos from other website through this app for free. 3. Never watch or download a video without getting a preview about it first. watching a thriller clip of a video is good because it gives you an idea of the story but for me it doesn't tell it all. Most of this thrillers sometimes may look interesting but the movie maybe not. so whet l do most times l scan the movie by clicking any where by the middle of the video to see if l will find any interest and secondly the main cast must be good looking enough. In short, l must find at last one of them very, very attractive for me to spend my data in downloading that movie. Because some of those movies are time wasters. 4. Always get an extra sim with the lowest data cost Glo for instance has the lowest data cost. Their most effective plan now is N2500 for 7.5GB this will get you quality time on the internet. My problem with them sometimes is poor reception but you can till do your downloads at night when the reception will be good enough. You can still keep your main line but use glo for downloading purpose. 5. Know your average monthly data usage This is very important and you can get this info from your phone settings under network you will see data usage. You can set it to one month cycle so that you can see the average usage for the month. what this does for you is to enable you choose the best data plan that will take you through the month then buying in bits which is more expensive.
