Administrators FlyJ Posted January 28, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2014 The Nigeria Football Federation have agreed to a two-legged friendly for Nigeria's female Under-17 team, the Flamingoes, and their Ghanaian counterparts, in preparation for the Women’s Under-17 World Cup which comes up in March. The friendly is coming at the request of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) who reached out to the NFF through their General Secretary, Emmanuel Gyimah in a letter dated 23rd January, which was responded positively to by the NFF through another letter the following day, signed by General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu. The first leg of the international friendly is expected to take place at the Abuja National Stadium on Sunday, 2nd February with the return leg to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 9th February. Nigeria, Ghana and Zambia have qualified to represent Africa at the 4th Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup taking place in Costa Rica between March 15 – April 4. The Flamingoes who are currently on a nationwide tour that has seen them play a number of friendly games against top rated clubsides qualified for the World Cup without kicking a ball, following the withdrawal of South Sudan. "The girls will return from their tour of the Federation to play the two-legged friendly fixture with Ghana, and then travel to Faro, Portugal for a three-week, final training camp before flying to Costa Rica for the final competition." The Bala Nikyu team will head for Costa Rica on 12th March for the tournament which kicks off on 15th March.
