Sad news for Scandal fans…Columbus Short who plays Harrison Wright on the hit series has confirmed that he will no longer be part of the Scandal cast.

In a statement made to Essence Magazine yesterday, Friday 25th April 2014, he said ”At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for *** years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today,” he wrote.

“I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it.“

This sad exit follows reports of domestic violence between Short and his wife Tuere McCall-Short who recently filed for divorce and claimed he threatened to kill her and himself. This was all before the creator of the series, Shonda Rhimes, threatened to fire him if he didn’t get his together on hearing the report. We guess her threats are definitely not idle. {Read here}. A restraining order was also filed earlier this month by Tuere and she is seeking custody of their 2-year-old daughter.

For those of you who caught up with the Scandal finale last week, Short’s character, Harrison had a gun pointed to his head…we guess now we all know what that was all about. He added in his statement; ”Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.“

I personally don't think he should have been fired. not that i condone domestics violence of any kind but come on its a series and doesn't have anything to do with his private issues. He shouldnt have to be punished professionally. .. I will surely miss him and I do hope whoever replaces him does a better job.
