Administrators FlyJ Posted June 16, 2014 Administrators Share Posted June 16, 2014 Nigeria Vs Iran: World Cup On June 16th At 8pm Nigeria's Super Eagles take on their Iranian counterparts in the World Cup group B opening round. Both teams would ideally be seeking to avoid a defeat in order to have realistic hopes if advancing to the knockout stages. This will be the first ever meeting between both nations, and only the 2nd time the Nigerians will be squaring up against Asian opposition at a FIFA World Cup. Four years ago in South Africa, the Super Eagles held Korea Republic to a 2-2 draw which wasn't good enough for the Nigerians to progress to the Round of 16. Venue: Cuiaba, Brazil Referee: Carlos Vera (Ecuador) Assistant Referees: Christian Lescano (Ecuador), Byron Moreno (Ecuador) Fourth Official: Wilmar Roldan (Colombia) Fifth Official: Clavijo Humberto (Colombia)

Administrators FlyJ Posted June 17, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2014 Former England captain Rio Ferdinand on John Mikel Obi : "John Mikel Obi frustrates me when I watch him because he's big and powerful and he gets opportunities to drive forward and draw a defender out and play in behind. "But he's content to keep it ticking and pass sideways. As a defender you're happy because he's not causing you any problems." Sums up the game for me. Unfortunately, i do not see Nig beating BIH. Goodbye Eagles. Na only una waka come.
Administrators FlyJ Posted June 17, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted June 17, 2014 World Cup Match Report: Iran and Nigeria grind way to 0-0 draw in Group F Instant Analysis The good run had to end somewhere. Though the start of the 2014 World Cup tournament has been filled with goals, comebacks and excitement, Nigeria and Iran put a stop to it all with a 0-0 draw in Group F action on Monday. Both teams walked away from the first draw in this year's tournament with one point. Neither has won a World Cup match since 1998. Man of the Match Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel got the honor, but the sentiment on Twitter said differently: What's Next Nigeria will look to generate some offense (and maybe three points in the standings) against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday in Cuiaba. Iran will run into Lionel Messi and the Argentina show in Belo Horizonte on the same day. Source
