Administrators FlyJ Posted June 14, 2015 Administrators Share Posted June 14, 2015 Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe blasted South Africa and Nigeria at the African Union Summit. Mugabe said Africa would never agree to Nigeria and South Africa getting permanent seats on the UN Security Council. This is because the both countries voted for UN Security Council Resolution 1973 in 2011, which authorised military action against the regime of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. One regional official who was in the meeting, however, said Mugabe had not mentioned the two countries by name. Africa has been demanding at least two permanent and five non-permanent seats on the UN Security Council as part of a protracted, wider reform to make it more representative of the world. The current permanent members are the US, UK, China, Russia and France. Source
