Symptoms of Brain Fog:

- Mental Confusion

- Loss of Brain Coordination

- Short term Memory Loss

- lnability to find the right words

What is brain fog?

It’s not a medically recognized term.

It’s a commonly used phrase that sums up feelings

of confusion, forgetfulness, and lack of focus and

mental clarity.

Basically you feel like you just can’t think ,

which can be very frustrating and even downright

frightening.

Everyone feels a little fuzzy-headed once in a while,

but if you suffer from a foggy brain frequently, you

certainly would like to get your mental clarity back.

Some Possibilities:

- You can temporarily suffer with a foggy

head from lack of sleep, low blood sugar,

seasonal allergies, food allergies,

dehydration, or electrolyte imbalance

following heavy exercise.

- MENTAL FOG CAN BE CAUSED BY MEDICATIONS. [Of all the causes of brain fog, only this will be elaborated on here]. For more read, pls visit- bebrainfit.com/stop-brain-fog-know-the-causes-symptoms-and-solutions/

- Chemotherapy has a well-known side effect

referred to as “chemo fog” or “chemo

brain.”

- Substance abuse of any kind can lead to

feeling mentally frazzled.

- Sometimes brain fog symptoms are due to

a more serious condition such as mercury

poisoning, hormonal imbalance, depression,

fibromyalgia, thyroid conditions (both

hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism) or

Lyme disease.

Losing mental clarity is often considered a

“normal” side effect of aging, but that

doesn’t mean it is an inevitable

consequence of growing older.

Brain Fog Cause #1 — When Food Is the

Problem:

One major cause of brain fog could be the food you

eat.

Dietary advice has gotten ridiculously complicated.

But we’re going to make this brain fog treatment

real, real simple …

Eat Real Food-

Those *** words will take you a long way towards

eating the best diet for your brain (and overall

health).

If it comes in a box or package it’s not “real” —

it’s processed.

Even if it’s from the “health food” store.

That includes products made from flour (even if it’s

whole wheat) or that contain sugar or high fructose

corn syrup.

Your brain needs all three macronutrient groups:

proteins for neurotransmitter production, complex

carbohydrates for steady brain glucose levels, and

healthy fats.

You might not realize that your brain is largely

made up of fat, about 60% by volume.

That’s why low-fat diets have been such a disaster

for our brains.

Skipping meals can leave you with a fuzzy brain.

So can eating too large a meal.

If you’ve ever felt like you need a nap after a big

meal you know what I mean.

You may be eating foods you’re allergic to.

The most common allergens that can contribute to

your lack of focus include soy, dairy, and any food

that contains gluten, especially wheat.

Cause No.2- When lack of Sleep is the Problem:

If you have brain fog, it’s likely you’re one of them.

Your brain needs sleep.

Sleep is critical to the way your brain works in

both the short and the long-term.

Lack of quality sleep will impair your memory ,

creativity, judgment, and attention.

If you have ongoing problems with sleep, just

overcoming insomnia is a potential brain fog cure.

Cause #*** — When Stress Is the Problem:

Stress puts you at greater risk for every

major disease you hope you never get … including

dreaded brain diseases like dementia and

Alzheimer’s.

Prolonged stress leads to anxiety, depression, poor

decision making, insomnia, and memory loss .

Stress can literally cause your brain to shrink and

that’s as harmful as it sounds.

Getting the sleep you need and eating a brain-

healthy diet will help diminish stress.

Two more things you can do are exercise and

meditate.

MEDICATIONS- when drugs kill...

20 Kinds of Drugs That Cause

Memory Loss:

There are many kinds of prescription drugs that

cause memory loss and plenty of OTC medications

too.

Prescription drugs cause over 100,000 deaths per

year and cause another 1.9 million people to

experience side effects so severe they must be

hospitalized.

Every medication carries some risks and memory

loss is a very common side effect.

The *** Types of Prescription Drugs That

Harm Your Memory-

If you are taking any prescription medication, the

odds are that it falls into one of these three

categories of drugs known to cause memory loss

and other cognitive problems:

The “Anti” Drugs-

If you take a drug that starts with “anti,” such as

antihistamines, antidepressants, antipsychotics,

antibiotics, antispasmodics, or antihypertensives,

it’s likely that it will affect your acetylcholine level.

Acetylcholine is the

primary neurotransmitter involved with memory

and learning.

When you’re low in acetylcholine, you become

forgetful .

You can’t concentrate or think of the right word.

Acetylcholine deficiencies are associated with

DEMENTIA and ALZHEIMER'S.

Acetylcholine activity is the target of Alzheimer’s

drugs, which block the breakdown of this brain

chemical.

Drugs that block the action of acetylcholine are

known as anticholinergic .

Low acetycholine can lead to a group of symptoms

that resembles dementia including mental

confusion, brain fog, incoherent speech, delirium,

blurred vision, memory loss, and hallucinations.

Trouble with Sleep?(Insomnia)

Sleeping Pills:

Prescription sleeping pills are notorious for causing

memory loss.

The popular drug Ambien has been coined by some

as “the amnesia drug.”

Some users experience night terrors, sleep walking,

sleep driving, and hallucinations.

Statin Drugs

According to Drs. Bowden and Sinatra in their book

The Great Cholesterol Myth , these cholesterol-

lowering medications might just be the single worst

group of drugs for your brain.

Memory loss is now required to be listed as a side

effect on the label.

One-quarter of your brain is made up of

cholesterol.

Cholesterol is necessary for memory, learning, and

fast thinking.

So it is not a total surprise that cholesterol-lowering

drugs negatively effect the brain.

Here is a list of medications known to

have memory loss as a possible side effect:

- for Parkinson’s — scopolamine, atropine,

glycopyrrolate

- for epilepsy — phenytoin or Dilantin

painkillers — heroin, morphine, codeine

*- sleeping pills — Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata

benzodiazepines — Valium, Xanax, Ativan,

Dalmane

quinidine

naproxen

steroids

*- antibiotics (quinolones)

antihistamines

interferons

high blood pressure drugs

insulin

beta blockers (especially those used for

glaucoma)

methyldopa

- antipsychotics — Haldol, Mellaril

tricyclic antidepressants

lithium

- barbiturates — Amytal, Nembutal, Seconal,

phenobarbital

chemotherapy drugs.

12 Popular Over-the-Counter Medications

That Cause Memory Loss-

Not all medications that cause memory loss are

“prescription only.”

Many popular over-the-counter (OTC) drugs cause

memory loss by the same mechanism — by

blocking the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Here are some popular OTC remedies that

are anticholinergic:

- Advil PM (pain and sleep)

****- Benadryl (for allergies)

- Claritin (for allergies)

- Dramamine (for motion sickness)

- Excedrin PM (for pain and insomnia)

****- Nytol (for insomnia)

- Pepcid AC (acid reflux)

****- Sominex (for insomnia)

- Tagalog (acid reflux)

- Tylenol PM (for pain and insomnia)

****- Unisom (for insomnia)

- Zantac (acid reflux)

THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IS BY FAR THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THIS POST.....

*A large study found that people who take OTC

medications like Benadryl are at significantly

increased risk for developing dementia and

Alzheimer’s.

*Long term use of Benadryl was not required. Memory loss from

these remedies was noticeable in as little as 60

days.

*This is bad news for the millions of people who

RELY on diphenhydramine — the generic name for

Benadryl — for allergies, cough, colds, and insomnia.

Many OTC products for treating allergies, colds,

cough, sinus problems, skin irritations, insomnia,

headache, and pain contain diphenhydramine.

What You Can Do Next-

Are you taking any of these prescription

medications?

Do you believe they are affecting your memory?

Then we recommend following the advice of Armon

B. Neel.

He is a geriatric pharmacist who has devoted his

career to guiding health professionals and older

adults in the appropriate use of medication.

He writes AARP’s “Ask a Pharmacist” column and is

the author of Are Your Prescriptions Killing You?

If you regularly take an OTC medicine for allergies,

insomnia or acid reflux, get serious about switching

to natural remedies which can provide relief —

without increasing your risk of dementia.
