Althena
So PalmStar made a lesbian movie with Katherine Heigl and Alexis Bledel, what could possibly go wrong I thought...till I started reading the reviews. Most people had tepid views and that kinda put me off, but this holiday season was one where I was determined to watch any and all lesbian movies ever made (including Thelma and Louise). So I started the movie and predictably, I thought it was bleh - probably due to the influence of reviews I had read. But everything started to pick up as everyone in the movie is pretty - and I like pretty, a lot - so I started to really enjoy myself. I did notice that the first two scenes of Jenny and Katie had NO (I mean ZERO) physical touch and it was almost like they were straight roommates living together. The chemistry between the actresses was also lacking but the dialogue was top notch. The fights were epic because you can really understand everyone's struggle with dealing with a wedding when they aren't even okay with Jenny being a lesbian... At the start of the movie, I would have rated this a three out of 10 but by the end, I would say it was a 7...or maybe even more. We just have to realize that the movie is more about Jenny's family and less about her relationship with Katie (who had like 6 scenes in the whole film, I kid you not!) It shows the denial of family members even though they have never seen you with a man but know your girlfriend yet they keep hoping and asking when you will marry, it shows the small mindedness of small towns and what may happen to your family after you come out, it shows the importance of standing up for yourself with family and that chances are, they would love you regardless of their present hurt/pain/anger. I love that they also didn't try to tie it with a pretty bow and pretend everything is full of rainbows and goodness. Like, some relationships are permanently scarred after you come out :(/> I really enjoyed the fight Jenny had with her father cos she told him some hard truths and also the awkward conversation she had with her mum the day after she came out...it was weirdly like mine :blink:/> :rolleyes:/> Anyways, go watch Jenny's Wedding. It had me laughing from the first baptism scene to the final awkward dance scene. As you can see from the trailer, there is a lot of pretty in it Quote Link to comment
