Moderators moresko Posted December 9, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2013 Nigeria: Katsina State Enacts Law On Homosexuality BY ATIKA BALAL, 4 DECEMBER 2013 Katsina — The Katsina State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill which makes homosexuality an offence punishable by 14 years imprisonment. The assembly passed the law through an amendment to Sections 284 and 285 of the state's penal code law CAP 96. The bill was sponsored by the member representing Funtua constituency, Rabiu Idris Funtua, who asked for stringent measures to be put in place to punish perpetrators of such acts and all other forms of sexual harassment. The law also stipulates 14 years imprisonment for any woman who engages in lesbianism with a fine of N10,000. Penalties have also been put in place for persons found guilty of sexual harassment.
